Terms of Use

The English version controls if there is any conflict with the Chinese translation.

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and DemoTime, a brand operated by an independent individual in Singapore (“DemoTime,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of DemoTime’s websites, AI-powered workplace English voice practice, feedback, subscriptions, Credits, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By creating an account, signing in, purchasing Credits or a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility and service territory

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. DemoTime is not offered to users in mainland China. You must not access or use the Service from mainland China.

You may use the Service only where doing so is lawful. You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to you in your location.

3. What DemoTime provides

DemoTime lets you rehearse workplace English conversations with an AI voice, using scenarios such as workplace small talk, daily standups, job interviews, client communication, and incident response. The Service may also provide transcripts, short feedback, suggested phrases, practice history, and phrase-saving features.

DemoTime is a practice and coaching tool. It is not an employer, recruiter, language certification body, emergency-response service, or provider of legal, medical, financial, cybersecurity, safety, or other professional advice.

4. AI-generated interactions and feedback

You understand and agree that:

  • You are interacting with AI, not a human representative, employer, interviewer, client, or adviser.
  • AI responses, transcripts, and feedback may be incomplete, inaccurate, inappropriate, or inconsistent.
  • A simulated outcome does not predict or guarantee the result of a real interview, meeting, client interaction, incident, or other event.
  • You must use your own judgment and verify information before relying on it in a real situation.
  • You must not use DemoTime as the sole basis for emergency, safety-critical, employment, legal, medical, financial, or cybersecurity decisions.

5. Accounts and sign-in

You must sign in through a supported third-party account, such as Google or GitHub. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your account information current.

You are responsible for:

  • Protecting the security of the third-party account used to access DemoTime.
  • All activity carried out through your DemoTime account, except to the extent caused by DemoTime’s breach of duty.
  • Promptly notifying us at support@demotime.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

You may not share, sell, transfer, rent, or provide your account to another person. We may require reasonable verification before acting on an account, billing, privacy, or support request.

6. Free trial

Each eligible account receives one non-renewing allocation of 5 free Credits, equal to up to five minutes of voice practice. The free trial:

  • Does not require payment details.
  • May be used with any launch scenario.
  • Is limited to one allocation per person and account.
  • Has no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold, refunded, or combined across accounts.

We may refuse, revoke, or correct a free allocation if we reasonably believe accounts were created or used to circumvent trial limits, commit fraud, or abuse the Service.

7. Credits and usage calculation

One Credit equals one minute of voice practice. Credits used for a practice are calculated by dividing actual session seconds by 60 and rounding up to the next whole minute.

Before a practice starts, you must have enough available Credits for the maximum selected duration. After the practice ends, only the rounded actual duration is charged, subject to these rules:

  • If the voice connection fails and the practice never actually starts, no Credits are charged.
  • If a practice actually starts but ends within 30 seconds, no Credits are charged as a connection grace period.
  • If a session continues for more than 30 seconds and you end it or the network connection fails, Credits are charged for the actual time used, rounded up to the next minute.
  • Feedback generation does not cost additional Credits.
  • If feedback fails, the practice record is retained where possible and feedback may be retried without an additional practice charge.

The Credit balance and transaction history displayed in your account are the authoritative record for product use. If you believe a Credit charge is incorrect, contact us promptly.

8. Subscriptions

DemoTime offers monthly subscription plans. The available plans at the effective date are:

  • Plus: US$39.99 per month for 150 Credits per billing period.
  • Pro: US$79.99 per month for 300 Credits per billing period.
  • Max: US$149.99 per month for 580 Credits per billing period.

By purchasing a subscription, you authorise recurring monthly charges until you cancel. The checkout flow will show the price, currency, billing frequency, and any applicable taxes before you confirm payment.

Subscription Credits are issued each billing period. Unused subscription Credits do not roll over and expire at the end of that billing period.

Unless stated otherwise at purchase:

  • An upgrade takes effect immediately, with any applicable charge or billing adjustment shown before confirmation.
  • A downgrade takes effect at the next billing period.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
  • After cancellation, you retain paid subscription access until the end of that period.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through the billing-management option made available in your account.

9. Boost Credit packages

Users with an active paid subscription may purchase:

  • Boost 30: 30 Credits for US$9.99.
  • Boost 60: 60 Credits for US$19.99.
  • Boost 120: 120 Credits for US$34.99.

Boost Credits do not expire while DemoTime continues to support the relevant account and Credit system, unless adjusted because of a refund, chargeback, fraud, legal requirement, or account termination for serious misuse. Boost Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred or resold.

Credits are consumed in this order: subscription Credits that expire soonest, other current subscription Credits, then Boost Credits.

10. Payment, taxes, cancellation, and refunds

Prices are displayed in United States dollars unless the checkout states otherwise. You are responsible for taxes, duties, bank charges, currency-conversion charges, or similar amounts that apply to your purchase. Applicable taxes collected by the payment provider will be shown during checkout where required.

Payments are handled by a third-party payment provider. Its additional terms may apply to the payment process.

Except where required by applicable law or expressly stated by DemoTime, purchases and issued Credits are non-refundable, including for unused subscription time, unused subscription Credits, and unused Boost Credits. Nothing in these Terms excludes a refund, cancellation right, remedy, or other consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

If you believe a charge was unauthorised or materially incorrect, contact support@demotime.app before initiating a chargeback where reasonably possible so that we can investigate. We may suspend associated paid benefits while a chargeback or payment dispute is pending.

11. Acceptable use

You must not use or attempt to use the Service to:

  • Break the law or help another person break the law.
  • Harass, threaten, exploit, defraud, impersonate, or discriminate against another person.
  • Generate or rehearse credible threats, targeted abuse, non-consensual sexual content, child sexual abuse material, or instructions for serious wrongdoing.
  • Submit personal, confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information about another person or organisation without authority or permission.
  • Upload passwords, access keys, financial credentials, government identifiers, health records, trade secrets, or real incident details that you are not authorised to disclose.
  • Infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, or other rights.
  • Circumvent trial, subscription, Credits, safety, territorial, or account restrictions.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, probe, overload, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or related systems.
  • Use automated means to create accounts or access the Service except through functionality we expressly provide.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially provide access to the Service without our written permission.
  • Misrepresent AI-generated content as a verified statement or professional recommendation from DemoTime.

We may investigate suspected misuse and take proportionate steps, including limiting a session, removing content, suspending access, or terminating an account.

12. Your content

“Your Content” means the prompts, role descriptions, goals, voice, spoken words, transcripts, saved phrases, messages, and other material you provide through the Service.

As between you and DemoTime, you retain your rights in Your Content. You grant DemoTime a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, process, transmit, adapt, and display Your Content only as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide and personalise the Service.
  • Run voice practice, produce transcripts, and generate feedback.
  • Save content you ask us to retain.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, resolve support issues, and comply with law.
  • Improve the reliability, safety, and quality of the Service without training general-purpose AI models on identifiable practice content unless you separately opt in.

This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from our active systems, except to the extent limited retention is reasonably required for backups, security, disputes, legal compliance, or other purposes described in the Privacy Policy.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to provide Your Content and allow us to process it under these Terms.

13. DemoTime content and intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, scenarios, prompts, selection and arrangement of content, and other materials provided by DemoTime, is owned by or licensed to DemoTime and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Subject to these Terms, DemoTime gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service for your own workplace English practice. No other rights are granted.

“DemoTime” and the DemoTime brand elements may not be used in a way that suggests sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation without our permission.

14. Suggested phrases and outputs

Subject to these Terms and applicable law, you may use suggested phrases and feedback generated specifically for you for personal or professional communication. Because AI systems may produce similar outputs for different users, DemoTime cannot promise that an output is unique or that exclusive rights exist in it.

You are responsible for reviewing and adapting outputs before using them in a real context.

15. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described there.

Do not provide real third-party confidential or sensitive information during practice unless you have lawful authority and a genuine need to do so.

16. Third-party services

The Service may depend on or link to services operated by others, including sign-in, payment, voice, AI, hosting, and support providers. DemoTime does not control third-party services, and their separate terms and privacy notices may apply to your direct relationship with them.

We are not responsible for a third-party service to the extent responsibility cannot legally be attributed to DemoTime. We may change providers where reasonably necessary to operate or improve the Service.

17. Service availability and changes

We aim to keep DemoTime available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Voice and AI features may be affected by your device, microphone, network, third-party services, maintenance, capacity limits, or events outside our reasonable control.

We may add, change, limit, or discontinue features. If a change materially reduces a paid feature during your current billing period, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice or an appropriate remedy where required by law.

We may set reasonable usage, capacity, or concurrency limits to protect users and service reliability. We will not use hidden limitations to contradict a paid plan’s express Credit allocation.

18. Suspension and termination

You may stop using DemoTime at any time, cancel your subscription, or delete your account through the available account controls.

We may limit, suspend, or terminate access if we reasonably believe that:

  • You materially or repeatedly violate these Terms.
  • Your use creates a security, legal, financial, or safety risk.
  • Your account is involved in fraud, chargebacks, circumvention, or abuse.
  • We are required to act by law or a competent authority.
  • Continuing to provide the Service is no longer reasonably feasible.

Where appropriate, we will provide notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue. We may act immediately where delay could cause harm, enable fraud, compromise security, or violate law.

On account deletion or termination, your right to use the Service ends. Data is handled according to the Privacy Policy. Serious misuse may result in forfeiture of remaining Credits to the extent permitted by law. Cancellation or termination does not remove payment obligations already incurred.

19. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” DemoTime disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability.

We do not warrant that:

  • AI conversations, transcripts, feedback, or suggested phrases will be accurate, complete, unique, or suitable for a particular situation.
  • Use of DemoTime will improve a specific score, secure employment, close a sale, prevent an incident, or produce any other particular result.
  • The Service will always be available, secure, or free from errors.

These disclaimers do not exclude warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

20. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DemoTime will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, business opportunity, goodwill, anticipated savings, or data, arising from or related to the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DemoTime’s total aggregate liability arising from or related to the Service and these Terms will not exceed the greater of:

  • The amount you paid to DemoTime during the three months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • US$50.

The limitations in this section apply regardless of the legal theory and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, but only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

21. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold DemoTime harmless from third-party claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the Service, your material breach of these Terms, or Your Content’s infringement of another person’s rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by DemoTime’s own breach, negligence, or wilful misconduct.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, pricing, law, safety requirements, or business practices. We will publish the updated Terms and revise the effective date.

If a change is material, we will provide reasonable advance notice through the Service or an account communication where practicable or required. Changes will not retroactively alter an existing dispute. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel any subscription before the updated Terms take effect.

23. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from or related to them are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Before starting formal proceedings, you and DemoTime agree to make a reasonable good-faith effort for 30 days to resolve the dispute by contacting support@demotime.app. This does not prevent either party from seeking urgent interim relief or using a statutory complaint process.

Subject to any mandatory consumer right to bring a claim elsewhere, the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service.

24. General terms

  • Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the entire agreement between you and DemoTime regarding the Service, except for additional terms expressly presented for a specific feature or purchase.
  • Severability: If a provision is held unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest will remain effective.
  • No waiver: A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. DemoTime may assign them as part of a reorganisation, transfer, or sale of the Service, subject to applicable law.
  • No partnership: These Terms do not create employment, agency, partnership, joint venture, or fiduciary relationships between you and DemoTime.
  • Headings: Section headings are for convenience and do not affect interpretation.
  • Language: The English version controls if a translation conflicts with it.
